Alexandra Karakashian | Johannesburg, Sud Africa, 1988

 

 

Nel 2011 ha ottenuto il Bachelor of Art in Fine Art a Michaelis School of Fine Art, University di Cape Town. In sede di laurea ha ricevuto il Judy Steinberg Painting Prize e il Simon Gerson Distinction Award. Nel 2015 ha ottenuto un Masters degree in Fine Art presso lo stesso istituto.

Tra le sue personali recenti: Sabrina Amrani, Madrid (2019), M. Ibrahim gallery, Seattle, e SMAC Gallery, Cape Town (2018). Tra le collettive: African Museum of Contemporary Art, Marrakech (2018); Sean Kelly, New York (2018); The Rubelle and Norman Schfler Gallery at Pratt Institute, New York (2016).

Il suo lavoro è incluso in collezioni sia pubbliche che private, tra cui: Iziko South African National Gallery, Sud Africa; Spier Collection, Sud Africa; Darvesh Collection, UAE; Royal Portfolio Collection, Sud Africa; Luciano Benetton Collection, Italia.

Vive e lavora a Cape Town, Sud Africa. 

 

 

Degen received his BFA in 1998 from Cooper Union.

He had solo exhibitions at Susan Inglett Gallery, Guild and Greyshkul Gallery and Museum 52 in New York City as well as Kantor Feuer Gallery in Los Angeles, and Medium Gallery in St. Barthelemy (French West Indies). His work has been featured in group shows in the US, Europe and Asia. His artworks are included in the permanent collections of the MoMA, The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and The Collezione Maramotti.

He has taught painting and drawing at The Cooper Union in New York City and has been a visiting artist at Rhode Island School of Design, Maryland Institute of Contemporary Art, Brooklyn College and the Yale University School of Art Norfolk program. 

He lives and works in New York.

In 2011 she obtained her Bachelor of Art in Fine Art degree at the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town. On graduation, she was awarded both the Judy Steinberg Painting Prize and the Simon Gerson Distinction Award. She went on to graduate with a Masters degree in Fine Art from the same institution in 2015. 

Among her recent solo shows: Sabrina Amrani, Madrid (2019), M. Ibrahim gallery, Seattle, and SMAC Gallery, Cape Town (2018). Among the group shows: African Museum of Contemporary Art, Marrakech (2018); Sean Kelly, New York (2018); The Rubelle and Norman Schfler Gallery at Pratt Institute, New York (2016).

Her work is part of private and public collections, including Iziko South African National Gallery, South Africa; Spier Collection, South Africa; Darvesh Collection, UAE; Royal Portfolio Collection, South Africa; Luciano Benetton Collection, Italy.
